Storyboard

I’ve been drawing up new storyboards and I’ve had time to put one scene in to the animatic.

I held a meeting on Thursday with the whole group and we decided on the character features and made clear what the style would be. 60′s interior even in the owl house! Afterwards me, Christina and Eva stayed and discussed the storyboard thumbnails we drawn, I came with changes and feedback and the others seemed to agree.

Our film will definitely be longer than two minutes. We got feedback from Dan which was really helpful. He liked the story he said and had some good ideas from an ‘outsiders’ perspective.

For Monday me and Christina will draw up the character modelsheets.

Messy week

Today we had a meeting it went really well. We covered everything I planned and made clear what to do next. I haven’t had as much time yet as I want to work on this project, or any college project, it’s really frustrating. I’m in the middle of moving and got my office preliminary set up in my boyfriends bed. It’s quite hard to get stuff done to a good standard in these conditions! I’m hoping to finish painting my new room tomorrow and move in over the weekend. Then I’m set to start working properly again!

We drew the thumbnails of the storyboards for today so we’ll giving eachother feedback on that tomorrow.

Researching London and more

I’ve been on the Internet looking for images all day today. Found loads of great ones of London. I now know how Piccadilly Circus looked like in the 60′s.. although only in black and white. I uploaded some of the images I found on the group blog as reference for the others. I’m going to try and find some old poster or billboard books, in Soho maybe? Too bad my camera is broken otherwise I would have gone in to town and taken some photos of buildings and textures.

I’ve also drawn a few sketches of the gangster pigeons and mother owl. I started on the environments. The big gangster pigeon might look good in a hat?

We had the first meeting today. Everybody, that had to, attended so I’m very happy about that! There is some great ideas for character designs. It makes it much more fun now when we agreed on the timeperiod beeing the 60′s, swinging London! I altered the script a bit. It’s still not the final version, it needs more thought, there is so much to play around with because of the timeperiod. We agreed on some features for the diffrent characters and everybody will now go off and sketch on some more designs. Eva went to town to take photos, I have to have a look at them tonight, but it seems great for textures and research! Would be great to get a book about London in the 60′s.. I’m going to have a look for that over the weekend.

I’m in the middle of moving house, moving in to my boyfriends. I have to move some stuff over the weekend, paint and put skirtingboards in to the room I’m going in to. Lots to do in the middle of this project!

60′s and more

Today I’ve edited the script and drawn a few suggestions for character designs of which I drew two in Illustrator. I thought it would be fun to have a 60′s hairdo on mother owl. I thought of changing the reflection in Canary Wharf to the BT-tower since Canary Wharf did not exist in the 60′s. I put some research up on the group blog, some great looking cars, will be really fun to build them. I found a bit of history about KFC on their site and some old bucket designs!

I made a schedule, I hope the others like it. We will see soon. I’ve sent it out via email and I’ve put it up on the blog. It’s the first schedule I’ve made for other people so its exciting to see what they think!

First Day!

This will be my Journal for a project we are doing in the last year of uni. I am making my film “Owl’s Day Out” (working title) which I pitched last Tuesday and then got chosen. It was 14 films out of 50 that got to be made. Two girls in my class decided to work fulltime with me, Eva and Christina. I’ve also got 5 part timers aswell to help out.

It’s a “grass is always greener on the other side” story about a young owl who wants to stay up past his bedtime and experience the daytime and all it has to offer.

Today we had out first meeting and decided that this week, week two, we are going to refine the storyline, do lots of research on owls, pigeons, miscellaneous nocturnal animals and London in the 60’s. We thought it would be more fun and interesting if the story is set in the 60’s with retro cars, signs and other attributes. We’d like to come up with a few initial character designs. And mood boards for the environments.

I will write the script out a bit more precise and then put it up on the blogg. I will also try and make a rough scedule so we know what we are doing!
